Chaos Rising Card List: 10 Amazing Mega Greninja ex Chase Cards
The Chaos Rising card list takes the Mega Evolution era into the streets of Lumiose City after dark. Released worldwide on 22 May 2026, Chaos Rising is the fourth main expansion of the series and stars Mega Greninja ex, one of the most requested Megas from Pokémon Legends: Z-A. It is a tight, 122-card set with five new Mega Evolution Pokémon ex and a strong group of Supporter cards. This guide breaks down the whole Chaos Rising card list, explains how the numbering works, ranks the top chase cards and helps you pick the best products in Australia.
If you have been following the era from the start, Chaos Rising comes straight after Perfect Order. Both sets share the same structure, so collectors who finished Perfect Order will find the Chaos Rising card list very familiar.

How the Chaos Rising card list is numbered
Every card is printed with a number out of 086. Cards from 001 to 086 make up the main set: commons, uncommons, rares and the double rare Pokémon ex. Anything numbered 087 or higher is a secret rare. The secret rares follow the same order used across the era.
- 087 to 097: 11 Illustration Rares, including Froakie, Ampharos and Xerneas
- 098 to 115: 18 Ultra Rares, with full-art Mega Pokémon ex and Trainers
- 116 to 121: 6 Special Illustration Rares
- 122: the gold Mega Greninja ex Mega Hyper Rare
Booster packs came in four artworks showing Mega Greninja, Mega Pyroar, Mega Floette and Mega Dragalge. The artwork is purely cosmetic, so any pack has the same chance of holding a big hit.
The night-time Lumiose City setting gives the whole set a distinct look. Many Illustration Rares use deep blues and neon highlights, which makes them stand out on a binder page next to the brighter cards from earlier in the era.
Every rarity in the Chaos Rising card list
The rarity spread is almost identical to Perfect Order, which makes the two sets easy to compare. Here is how the 122 cards divide up.
- Main set: 86 cards, including 10 Pokémon ex in total
- Illustration Rare: 11 cards
- Ultra Rare: 18 cards
- Special Illustration Rare: 6 cards
- Mega Hyper Rare: 1 card
With only 36 secret rares, this is one of the more achievable sets to finish. Most collectors can complete the main set from a single booster box, which leaves the secret rares as the real challenge.
Top 10 chase cards in the Chaos Rising card list
Market prices change every week, so treat this as a ranking based on sales through mid 2026. These are the ten cards collectors chase first.

- Cinccino ex, Special Illustration Rare 119/086

- Xerneas, Illustration Rare 091/086

Mega Greninja ex takes the top two spots
Greninja has been a fan favourite since Pokémon X and Y, and its first official Mega Evolution made it the obvious headline. The gold Mega Hyper Rare and the Special Illustration Rare sit close together at the top of the rankings, and the Ultra Rare gives collectors a more affordable way to own the mascot. The Froakie Illustration Rare is a popular companion card, so many collectors file the full evolution story together.
Cinccino ex, the surprise chase
Just as Meowth ex surprised everyone in Perfect Order, Cinccino ex has punched above its weight here. Its Special Illustration Rare has consistently ranked third, ahead of several Mega cards, thanks to bright, playful artwork that stands out in a dark-themed set.
The Floette and AZ connection
Mega Floette ex and the AZ’s Tranquility Supporter tie directly into one of the most emotional stories in the Kalos games. Collectors who enjoy that story often keep these two Special Illustration Rares side by side, and they make a great pair for display.
What players took from Chaos Rising
Mega Evolution Pokémon ex give up three prize cards, so each one needs to justify its place. Mega Greninja ex brought speed and flexibility to Water decks, while Mega Dragalge ex and Mega Pyroar ex opened new options for Dragon and Fire players. New Supporters such as Roxie’s Performance and AZ’s Tranquility also found homes in competitive lists. If you play, the double rare versions are the ones to collect in multiples because they are identical in play to the secret rares.
The Build and Battle Box is the easiest way for new players to start. It includes a 40-card ready-to-play deck, one of four foil promo cards and four booster packs, so you can play straight away and improve the deck with what you open.
Collectors who prefer sealed product should think about storage from day one. Keep boxes out of direct sunlight, store them flat rather than on their edges, and avoid stacking heavy items on top. Shrink wrap and outer sleeves protect the box art, which matters if you plan to display or sell the product years from now.
It also helps to buy from a retailer who ships in strong boxes with plenty of padding. A crushed corner on an Elite Trainer Box is easy to avoid with careful packing.
How to complete the Chaos Rising card list
- Open one booster box to complete most of the 86-card main set
- Fill the remaining gaps with cheap singles rather than more packs
- Pick up the 11 Illustration Rares, starting with Froakie and Xerneas
- Trade your duplicate Ultra Rares at local game nights
- Buy the Special Illustration Rares and the Mega Hyper Rare as singles when prices settle
A master set with reverse holos lands at around 200 cards. A standard 9-pocket binder holds it comfortably, with space left over for promos such as the Elite Trainer Box Fennekin.
Finally, set yourself a budget before release day. New sets create a lot of excitement, and it is easy to keep opening packs long after buying singles would have been cheaper. Decide in advance how many boxes you will open, then switch to singles for the last few cards.
Looking after your best pulls
Sleeve every Illustration Rare and Special Illustration Rare as soon as you open it, then move it into a toploader or a magnetic case. Check corners, edges and surfaces under a bright light if you are thinking about grading. Store binders upright in a cool, dry room, away from sunlight and humidity, and your cards will look as good in ten years as they did on release day.
