Delta Reign Guide: 7 Amazing Things to Know Before You Buy

Delta Reign is the Pokémon TCG expansion that brings Mega Rayquaza ex back to the game. Officially titled Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution—Delta Reign, it released worldwide, including in Australia, on 6 November 2026.

This Delta Reign guide covers the release date, what is inside the set, the new Legendary Stadium cards, every product and which one suits you. When you are ready to see every card, our Delta Reign card list breaks down the rarities and chase cards.

What is Delta Reign?

Delta Reign is the sixth main expansion in the Mega Evolution series, the era of the Pokémon TCG built around Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Its set code is ME06, and cards carry the printed abbreviation DLR.

Like most English sets, it is built from Japanese releases. Most of its cards come from the Japanese expansion Storm Emeralda, which launched in Japan in July 2026, with a few more drawn from Japan’s 2026 ex Starter Sets.

Where Delta Reign fits in the Mega Evolution series

The Mega Evolution series began in 2025 and has released a steady run of main expansions, with special sets in between. Here is the order of the main sets so far:

  • ME01: Mega Evolution, the base set that started the era
  • ME02: Phantasmal Flames
  • ME03: Perfect Order, released in March 2026
  • ME04: Chaos Rising, released in May 2026
  • ME05: Pitch Black, released in July 2026
  • ME06: the Mega Rayquaza set, released in November 2026

Special releases such as Ascended Heroes and the 30th Celebration anniversary set sit outside this numbered run. If you are building a Mega Evolution binder, keep space for them alongside the main sets.

Want to catch up on the earlier sets of the era? Our guides cover the Mega Evolution card list, Phantasmal Flames, Ascended Heroes, the Perfect Order card list, the Chaos Rising card list and the Pitch Black Pokémon card list, each with rarities, chase cards and buying tips.

What is in the Delta Reign set?

The set lists 141 cards. Numbers 001 to 103 form the main set, and 104 to 141 are the secret-range cards that collectors chase.

  • 4 Mega Evolution Pokémon ex: Mega Rayquaza ex, Mega Golurk ex, Mega Malamar ex and Mega Golisopod ex
  • 6 Pokémon ex
  • 6 Stadium cards that combine into 3 Legendary Stadiums
  • 14 Illustration Rare Pokémon
  • 17 Ultra Rare Pokémon and Trainer cards
  • 6 Special Illustration Rare Pokémon and Supporter cards

Mega Rayquaza ex returns

Rayquaza last appeared as a Mega in the XY era, when M Rayquaza-EX cards in sets such as Roaring Skies became fan favourites. This set brings it back as a modern Mega Evolution Pokémon ex and makes it the face of the set.

One detail surprised collectors: the full-art Ultra Rare version of Mega Rayquaza ex from the Japanese set is not in English packs. The Special Illustration Rare and the gold Mega Hyper Rare versions are both included, and those are the cards most collectors want.

It is also worth remembering that the full English card list includes cards from Japan’s ex Starter Sets, so a few cards here never appeared in Storm Emeralda. Collectors who already own the Japanese version will still find something new in the English packs.

Legendary Stadiums explained

The set introduces a new kind of Trainer card. Six Stadium cards pair up to form three Legendary Stadiums, and each pair is played together. Place the two halves side by side and their artwork joins into one larger illustration.

Collectors will be pleased to know that a booster pack containing one half of a Legendary Stadium includes both halves, so you never pull an incomplete pair.

Delta Reign products

The product range follows the familiar Mega Evolution line-up, from big boxes for openers to small blisters with promo cards.

  • Booster Box: 36 booster packs.
  • Elite Trainer Box: 9 booster packs, a promo card and playing supplies. A Pokémon Center version includes 11 packs.
  • Booster Bundle: 6 booster packs.
  • Build & Battle Box: one of four 40-card decks plus 4 booster packs.

Whichever product you choose, check the contents list on each product page before you buy. Pack counts, promo cards and accessories vary between boxes, and knowing exactly what you are paying for makes it easier to compare value and avoid doubling up on extras you already own.

Which Delta Reign product should you buy?

  • You want to open lots of packs: the booster box gives you 36 packs in one sealed display, the best way to chase the secret rares.
  • You want a complete starter kit: the Elite Trainer Box includes sleeves, energy cards and dice along with 9 packs.
  • You want a few packs without extras: the Booster Bundle keeps it simple with 6 packs.
  • You want to play straight away: a Build & Battle Box gives you a ready-made 40-card deck.

How Mega Evolution Pokémon ex play

Mega Evolution Pokémon ex are among the strongest cards in the current game. They hit hard and have large amounts of HP, but they carry extra risk: when one is Knocked Out, your opponent takes more Prize cards than usual. Building a deck around them means balancing big attacks against that risk.

The four Mega ex in this set each suit a different style of deck, and the Legendary Stadiums add new ways to support them. If you are new to the game, a Build & Battle Box is a friendly way to learn how these cards work before building your own deck.

Tips for opening your packs

  • Open packs on a clean, dry surface and sleeve any Illustration Rare, Ultra Rare or Special Illustration Rare straight away.
  • Keep both halves of a Legendary Stadium together in one sleeve or binder pocket so the artwork stays matched.
  • Use a checklist to track the 38 secret-range cards, as they are spread across several rarities.
  • Store sealed boxes flat and away from sunlight if you plan to keep them unopened.

Is Delta Reign worth collecting?

If you love Rayquaza, the answer is an easy yes. The set gives you Mega Rayquaza ex in two premium versions, plus a strong supporting cast of Mega Pokémon and popular Illustration Rares such as Kecleon, Kyogre and Groudon.

Players will also want to explore the Legendary Stadiums and the new Mega ex. If you are already collecting the Mega Evolution era, it slots in neatly beside earlier sets such as the Mega Evolution base set.

Collecting on a budget

You do not need a full booster box to enjoy a new set. Many collectors start with a few blisters or a Booster Bundle, then buy the singles they still need once prices settle a few weeks after release.

  • Set a monthly budget and decide in advance whether you are opening packs, buying singles or keeping sealed product.
  • Trade duplicates with friends or at your local league to fill gaps in your binder.
  • Look for promo cards in blisters and gift-with-purchase offers, as they are an affordable way to add something unique.
  • Focus on one Pokémon or one rarity, such as Illustration Rares, rather than trying to finish everything at once.

Above all, buy what you enjoy. Card prices change after every release, and the most rewarding collections are built around the Pokémon and artwork you love.

If you are unsure where to start, pick one product, open it slowly and enjoy the cards. You can always add to your collection later once you know which Pokémon and rarities you like most.
